Change Management

Change Management

Change Management is the structured activity that supports the realisation of an organisation’s intended change outcomes though a focus on the organisation and its people.

SMS has adopted the ADKAR® approach to supporting the people side of change. With its focus on individuals realising progressive outcomes – Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability – and then, through provision of Reinforcement, to secure changed behaviour. ADKAR® ensures that change activities are aligned with the needs of each individual within the context of achieving the organisations goals.

We adopt performance metrics to not only justify and monitor the success of the change approach, but also as a mechanism to reinforce new behaviours and sustain improvements upon completion of the project. For change which needs to be objectively measured in terms of organisational performance, SMS will establish measurement and reporting mechanisms to monitor progress at a project, program and/or organisational level dependant on the requirements of the client.

Change management addresses the need for organisations to respond to events in their external or internal environments. The primary focus of this approach is to align the organisation to support the new direction and ensure staff are engaged and equipped to successfully transition to the desired future state. Failing to manage this transition is why the vast majority of strategy implementations fail.

By integrating change methodologies with a wide range of implementation disciplines, technology, techniques and activities, SMS has the capability to deliver each aspect of the required change in a seamless manner.
