Since the launch of the Defence White Paper in 2009, SMS has worked in close partnership with Government to improve efficiencies in the Australian Defence Force, under the Department of Defence Strategic Reform Program.
In an effort to build a stronger Australian Defence Force, funding of more than $100 billion over four years has been committed (2009-2013) to deliver military capabilities, improve critical support functions and reduce costs by nearly $2 billion by 2019.
SMS is playing an important role in this reform program through delivery of business process improvement systems to the Department of Defence and by smart ICT application.
Extensive experience developing applications for lead Government agencies since the mid-1990s, including the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO), has earned SMS a well developed reputation among key stakeholders and our consultants are highly networked in the defence community.
As an example of the strategic services provided to the sector, SMS delivers cutting-edge ICT processes, including enterprise architecture and IT infrastructure, to the Chief Information Officer within the Department of Defence.
SMS has worked closely with other defence industry companies in the formation of warship building and heavy engineering consortiums, through-life support for command and control systems, specialist communication software and simulation development and defence capability outsourcing.
SMS is also delivering innovative ICT solutions to emerging defence capabilities including cyber defence, IT security and Integrated Logistics Support.
